Taxation, Trusts & Estates Sheila Mints specializes in estate planning, taxation and asset protection. She concentrates on sophisticated estate and asset protection planning as well as qualified and non-qualified retirement planning. Ms. Mints’ unique approach to the planning process includes both counseling and preparation of comprehensive estate plans that reflect her clients’ values and goals for their families’ futures, while minimizing estate and income tax consequences and protecting assets.
Ms. Mints’ corporate practice focuses on healthcare and business transactions. She guides clients through choice of entity, negotiating shareholder agreements including complex compensation, buy-in and buy-out structures and corporate asset protection. She has represented clients in the purchase and sale of medical practices and in the merger of medical practices.
Ms. Mints advises charitable organizations and provides legal advice concerning the formation and administration of charitable foundations and the drafting and operation of charitable trusts.
Prior to joining Coughlin Duffy LLP where she is a member of the Tax, Trusts and Estate Department and heads the Healthcare Transactional Department, Ms. Mints was Chair of the Tax and Transactional Department of Kern Augustine Conroy & Schoppmann, P.C., a nationally known healthcare law firm. Ms. Mints received her undergraduate degree from New York University, her law degree from Brooklyn Law School and her Masters of Law in Taxation from New York University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in both New Jersey and New York.
