Insurance and Reinsurance

Lorraine M. Armenti is a Partner in the firm’s Insurance and Reinsurance Services Group.  Her practice focuses on the representation of domestic insurers in complex insurance coverage matters. 

From 1983 to 1988, Ms. Armenti was associated with the law firm of Tompkins, McGuire & Wachenfeld.  In 1989, she joined the law firm of McElroy, Deutsch & Mulvaney, where she became a partner in 1990.  Her practice concentrated in the management of complex coverage litigation across the United States, as one of national counsel for a large domestic insurance company.  In 1991, Ms. Armenti established the Colorado office of McElroy Deutsch & Mulvaney where she continued to litigate complex insurance coverage matters in the western region of the United States, while managing and growing the Colorado office. In 2001, Ms. Armenti relocated to McElroy, Deutsch & Mulvaney’s Morristown office.  She joined Coughlin Duffy upon its inception in March, 2004.

In the management of complex insurance coverage matters, Ms. Armenti has represented the interests of insurers in large coverage disputes in several different areas, including environmental, toxic tort, construction defect, products liability and professional liability.  She has represented an international insurer in connection with one of the largest mining coverage cases litigated in the state of Colorado.

Ms. Armenti earned her J.D. from Seton Hall University – School of Law where she graduated in the top ten percent of her class and was awarded the Governor Richard J. Hughes Award for Excellence in Civil Practice and Procedure.  She completed a judicial clerkship for the late Honorable Harry A. Margolis, Superior Court of New Jersey, Civil Division, Essex County, for the 1982-1983 Term.  Ms. Armenti has presented numerous seminars to insurance company clients on varied insurance coverage topics including all aspects of claim handling and insurance contract interpretation. 

Ms. Armenti is a member of the firm's Women's Initiative Group and participates in her firm's partnership with the New Jersey Council on Gender Parity in Labor and Education.  She also serves on the firm’s recruitment committee and acts as a mentor in the firm’s Mentoring Program for associates.
