Danielle M. DeFilippis is associated with Coughlin Duffy LLP where she is a member of the Insurance and Reinsurance Practice Group. Ms. DeFilippis focuses her practice on insurance coverage and complex commercial litigation. Ms. DeFilippis joined Coughlin Duffy LLP in September 2005 following her judicial clerkship with the Honorable Stephen J. Bernstein, Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex County.
Ms. DeFilippis has appeared on behalf of international and domestic insurers and corporate clients in disputes in federal and state courts throughout New York and New Jersey as well as in alternative dispute resolution forums. Ms. DeFilippis has extensive experience representing clients in commercial, insurance coverage and defense matters. Ms. DeFilippis is currently defending entities involved in construction defect litigation, complex environmental litigation, professional negligence and various other general liability matters. Ms. DeFilippis has handled reinsurance matters involving coverage under Errors & Omissions, Director & Officers Liability, Fidelity Bond, and other insurance policies for class action securities litigation arising out of the IPO Securities Litigation and Parmalat Litigation.
Recent significant cases include representation of a Global 200 company in the Southern District of New York involving claims arising out of business torts, breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duties. Ms. DeFilippis also represents the interests of international insurers with regard to the Hormone Replacement Therapy Litigation and other mass tort litigation throughout the United States.
Ms. DeFilippis is a member of several firm committees including the Women’s Initiative Group, the Hiring Committee and the Mentor Program. Ms. DeFilippis is a member of the Newark Reentry Legal Services (ReLeSe), a legal services program of the Volunteer Lawyers for Justice. Ms. DeFilippis is also a member of the American Bar Association and DRI – the Voice of the Defense Bar.
